What a weekend; parents, bloomsday, knitting, rain......

My parents came to town this last weekend to visit for a couple of days. It was great to have them and I wished they could have stayed longer. My mom and I did some shopping on Saturday while Cam and my dad explored the auction yard for new equipment and did some stuff around the yard.

Bloomsday was okay, I wasn't really expecting much. My foot is still sore from Boston so I was more in run for the t-shirt at the end. :) I think that I will take some time off from running for a bit. Right now it just isn't very much fun anymore. I mean I will still run, just not compete for a while. Oh, and the t-shirt wasn't really worth it in the end, AGAIN. Maybe I should design the shirt for next year?????

I always forget how crazy the Bloomsday crowd is, luckily I didn't lose my parents in the sea of many people. My dad was wearing his OSU hat which is orange...kind of hard to miss even in a couple thousand people. Cam and Paul were dishing up delicious Papa Murphy's pizza for the Teen Challenge kids. It was nice to get a treat of pizza after my run. :)

My mom and I took the girls for a walk on one day. They had so much fun. My mom gave Tia a new nickname: Waddles. She does kind of waddle, poor thing! It doesn't matter how many carrots I feed her, how many walks I take her on, or how healthy of food I buy her; everything the poor girl eats goes straight to her hips.

My dad's big project (he can never rest, even when he is in Spokane!!!) was digging up literally every weed in our front yard. I didn't think he would get all of them, but then I looked out the front window and he was already almost done. Thanks dad! :)

While my mom was here she also taught me how to knit! Right now I am working on a teal blue scarf. So far I haven't messed up too bad. Today is only my second day and I have a tad over 8 inches! Only about 52 more inches left until my scarf is done. I sort of messed up today and panicked. I thought I would have to shelve it until I saw my mom again so that she could fix it. After putting it down for a couple of minutes I was able to fix my mistake only to pick up the wrong stitch so I was off for a couple of rows. *Sigh*. After I took out 3 more rows I was back on track. With all of my ooopsies today I could of had over 10 inches. Dang it!

My practice "scarf"

Practicing.....

.....and practicing....

.....and practicing some more.

At the end of day 2, I have a tad over 8 inches on my scarf. Only 52 or so more inches to go!!!!

I am kind of proud of myself.
