Lazy Saturday

I love Saturdays. I get up, go workout, shop for groceries, clean the house, and finish my laundry all before lunch. Now I get to relax with my girls, a cup of tea and my book. Cam built a fire earlier and our living room so warm and cozy right now. I love it.

Tonight we are going to FroYo with Paul & Brenda. I'm looking forward to a treat since I have been working so hard. It will be nice to do some catching up too.

Cam is busy working on our rental property today. The tenants just moved out so now we have to get it all clean before we can show it tomorrow to potential renters. I went to the house for the first time last night since I moved out in May 2008. It was a little bitter sweet. It was the first big purchase I have ever made and was my house until Cam and I got married. Cam got a ton of inquiries on the house over the last couple of weeks so hopefully we can find some good renters.

Searching for spring.....

Just when I thought that spring was almost here, it starts snowing again. I know that it is still February, but really?! I am tired of it being cold in our house and I am tired of having to wear huge jackets and scarves everywhere. It just feels nice to be able to go outside without having to be all bundled up.

I am looking forward to possibly planting a small garden this spring. I say possibly because I don't know where I would put one and I don't know if I want to deal with the hassle of the upkeep. Of course Cam wants one, but he isn't going to be eating any veggies from it and I am sure he won't be helping me pull any weeds.......

Mobile Blogging.....

I have never written a blog from my phone. So far it seems like it is a lot more time consuming.:)
This weekend flew by! I'm a little jealous that Cam doesn't have to work tomorrow. I wish I could sleep in one more day!

Tomorrow, Monday, is little Miss Maisy's adoption anniversary. The year went by so fast. Maisy is such a wonderful little girl. She is quite the little fire cracker! Deciding to keep her was a very good decision, I can't imagine not having her. Tia loves her little sister.:)

February.....

Being sick is no fun. I caught a nasty cold last week and I am still recovering from it. Knock on wood, Cam never got it. I don't like being sick, it is lame.

We have been pretty busy the last couple of weeks. It seems like we are always busy. We have been slowly updating the furniture in our house which I am loving. Luckily, Cam and I are in agreement on most furniture pieces. We have finished our living room and it looks amazing! We got 2 new sitting chairs, an end table, new lamp, a plant (I hope we don't kill it!), and a hutch that doubles as a buffet and holds wine. We figure that if we get a couple of pieces every month, we will be done and not in a huge sticker shock. We still have to find a bistro table and finish our bedroom, but I am confident it will all come together. Other major projects still that need to be completed are carpeting the upstairs and finishing the office. We did (actually Cam did) get all the new bedroom windows installed before this winter. They look amazing! He did a wonderful job. I assisted on one window and it was hard work! Kudos to Cam!!!!

People have been asking me, and asking me, and asking me when I was going to start running again. The answer is NOW! I have an amazing personal trainer who has gotten me back on the right track. I have signed up for a couple of 1/2 marathons for this year and a 10K. Just last weekend Cam and I ran the Partners in Pain 5k. It was fun, nothing fast, but it was fun to run with him. I was still getting over my cold and Cam really hasn't been running, but we had fun and we finished. :) I am excited to be working towards the races that I have signed up for. A couple that I have signed up for are in Portland so I am looking forward to getting to spend some time with Cass. It is going to be a fun summer!!!!!

We didn't do much for Valentine's Day this year. Does that mean that we are getting old????? We were going to do a couple of things, but then just never got around to doing them. We did the 5k together and got eachother cards and that was about it.

We are making more of an effort recently to get out of the house and do stuff. We have gone to 2 Spokane Chief's games recently. Cam likes to go so that he can see a big fight. So far we have only seen a couple of small ones.

This last weekend I got to attend my first musical, Legally Blonde. It was a lot of fun. I feel so cultured now. :) I got a season Broadway pass so that I can go and see Wicked also. I think that musical is next month. Should be fun.

I should be fired...

Fired from blogging that is! I just realized that (gasp!) it has been almost 2 months since I blogged about anything. Since starting my new job (which I LOVE!) I have been a pretty busy person! When I am not at work I am either cleaning, doing laundry, cleaning, cooking, cleaning, going to the gym, or cleaning. I have to clean a lot. I should hire a maid (hint, hint Mr. Malcolm).

I will recap the last several weeks.....or at least attempt to. I spent Christmas in Oregon with my family and Cam stayed in Spokane. On New Year's we went to Portland for my mom's surprise birthday party. She was pretty surprised! It was a fun, but quick trip. It was wonderful to be able to stay in Portland with Cassie & Scott.

Not sure when we will make it back to Oregon. Seems like there is always something that needs to be done around here. I am planning on running some races with Cassie in Portland this spring and summer so that should be fun. Only fun if I train for them.....

Cam is taking some accounting classes at EWU, so he is pretty busy and rarely seen around the house. When he is home he is studying or sleeping. He seems to like his classes, but they sound pretty hard to me. I have never been good with numbers. I think he will be happy when the quarter is over.

The girlies are good. They are ready for summer already. It is no fun to have to go outside when it is freezing cold outside. Maisy is ready for some running with me and Tia is ready for all of the pretty flowers to come out so she can sniff them and then work on her sun tan. :)

It is being to look a lot like Christmas.....

Once I again, I have been extremely delinquent in updating our blog. Updating everything has been on my "to-do list" for a couple of weeks now. Since Cam is at the Seahawks game today I have plenty of "me" time on my hands so it seems like the perfect opportunity to get everything updated.

After much thought, I decided to leave my job at 911. It just was not the right fit for me. I admire anyone who can work in an environment like that everyday. The job gave my way too much anxiety and sleepless nights. Quitting was one of the best decisions I have made. I knew in the first week or so that I didn't think I would like the job, but I gave it my best and after a couple of months I decided it was best to part ways. Cam was supportive, but not thrilled either. The hardest thing for me was knowing that I was leaving a good paying job, but in the end $ isn't worth everything. Self happiness is much more important.

In the end when one door closes another opportunity awaits. In my case a much, much better opportunity was waiting for me. I was thankful to get a job offer at Deaconess Medical Center only a couple of weeks after leaving 911. I will be assisting in the recruitment of providers for both Deaconess and Rockwood Clinic. I am extremely excited about this wonderful venture and opportunity. I feel like for the first time in over a year, things are starting to fall into place. I was devastated when I was bumped from my position at EWU and felt a little lost for a while, now I feel almost human again. Wish me luck because tomorrow is my first day! :)

November went by way to fast. It seems like it was just November 1st yesterday. We both had good, but quiet birthdays. We went to my family's Thanksgiving in Oregon. The drive down was interesting to say the least. We had gotten quite a bit of snow in Spokane right before leaving and unfortunately so did all of the towns on the way to Nehalem. A typical 7-8 hour drive took over 10 hours on Wednesday. We were very tired and kind of cranky by the time we got to my parent's house. It was great to see my family and my best friend for a couple of days. It seems like we never have enough time to do everything we would like to when we are in town. Thankfully the drive back to Spokane was better even though we came home to even more snow than when we left. It was incredibly nice of our neighbors to snow blow our driveway for us when we were gone.

My last week of being "unemployed" has been busy! I finished my Christmas shopping, made Christmas cards, and did some much needed house cleaning. Not to mention I decorated for Christmas also. :) On Saturday we went to the EWU playoff game at Roos Field. By the end of the game I was frozen solid! The temperature said it was 20 degrees, but the windchill factor was awful. Luckily, the Eags won and have another game this coming weekend. They are ranked #1 in the nation and have a good chance of making it to the National Championship game.

Cam and I are both looking forward to Christmas. I am excited that we will get our tree this week so that I can finish my decorating. Next on my agenda will be baking, lotsa baking. Yummmmm.

Hugs!

We are still here!

It seems like these last couple of months have just flown by. I have severly neglected our blog so I hope that I can catch everyone up to our household happenings.

Cam and I have both been busy at work and trying to get the house ready for this winter. We finally painted our bedroom which I absolutely love. Next up we are painting the hallway, spare bedrooms and possibly our bathroom. We are also carpeting the upstairs and replacing all of the bedroom windows. Now that the weather is changing, and fall is here the new windows will be very nice. We both tend to be a little grumpy if it's too cold in the house in the morning.

Tia just turned 3 and Maisy just turned 1. We had a little birthday party for them last weekend that was a lot of fun. I even made pink velvet cupcakes! They got lots of neat presents and had fun playing with all of their friends.

Check out pictures from the party here:

Maisy is turning into quite the little athlete. I started taking her running with me to try and channel some of her "hyperness". Turns out, she LOVES IT! So far we have gone 40 minutes and I am thinking she should be able to make it to an hour this week. She does an awesome job and is just in her little zone when we got out. I always wanted a dog to go running with, so the whole thing is perfect for me.

Cam has been playing fall flag football this year. He seems to like it. I try to go and watch his games if I don't have to work. Today they played really good and won. They are playing in a tough league, but hopefully they can keep on winning.

We went up to Green Bluff last weekend and got pumpkins to carve for Halloween. Tia and Maisy each got one and so did Cam and I. We are going to have a lot of pumpkin guts! It was hard work carving 3 pumpkins, but I think that they all turned out awesome. Cam cheated and used power tools to carve his. I don't know if I should consider him a cheater or just smarter....hmmm.

Cam is thinking about going back to school this winter and taking some night classes. At this point he is undecided if he will finish his accounting degree or start his master's.

I am looking forward to seeing all of the gorgeous fall colors. Not looking forward to raking up all of the leaves, but fall is my favorite time of the year. It's the perfect time for a pumpkin spice latte, blanket, and a good book!
